This Is The Face of A Woman Who Just Got A Big Surprise After Giving Birth

While Kim Guiley was pregnant with her second child, she felt certain it was a girl. So when she delivered a baby boy, she and her husband, Travis, were shocked, to say the least.

Birth photographer Susannah Gill captured the moment the Guileys learned the sex of their baby. Looking at the photos, the expressions on their faces can only be described as priceless.

“It was a very big moment because a lot was as happening,” Gill told The Huffington Post. “It was about 5 a.m. after a very long night.”

Kim gave birth at home in Santa Cruz back in July.

The Amazing Birth Photos This Mom Captured Of Her Own Labor

California-based photographer Lisa Robinson specializes in weddings and portraits, but when she found out she was pregnant last year, she knew she wanted to take on a new photography challenge: shooting her own labor and delivery.

Photographing the birth, she thought, would help her stay calm and focused, and keep her mind off the pain.

As the bump grew, I reveled in the attention I received, the knowing smiles from older women and even the random strangers that wanted to touch my belly.

Birth certificates being revised for same-sex couples’ kids

More than a year after West Virginia officials began issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples, state birth certificates for adopted children still list “mother” and “father” next to the blanks for the parents’ names.

Unlike other states that are resisting changing the certificates, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources has said birth certificates are being revised and will be ready to be distributed early next month, The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports (http://bit.ly/1Jbyiok).

Department spokesman Toby Wagoner said this week that the process started several months ago, but software updates had caused the changes to take some time.

American Civil Liberties Union of West Virginia attorney Jamie Lynn Crofts said inaccurate birth certificates can lead to greater scrutiny or even rejection of the birth certificates by organizations that require the birth certificate as proof of the parental relationship.
