More student athletes arrested in sexual assault scandal

Police made two more arrests on Monday in a hazing scandal involving sexual assault at La Vernia High School.
Two students were led out of the high school in handcuffs, which brings the total to nine students that face sexual assault charges after seven students were arrested on March 23.

One mother chose to talk to News 4 San Antonio about the sexual assault issues that have happened at La Vernia ISD. She claims the assaults have not only taken place at the high school, but the junior high as well. She wanted to remain anonymous during the interview to protect the identity of her family.

California Police Arrest Teen in High School Nude Video Scandal

A 17-year-old student was arrested Tuesday after allegedly taking a nude recording of a Northern California high school administrator at a fitness center and uploading it to social media last month, CBS San Francisco station KPIX-TV reports.

The victim, Clayton Valley Charter High School Executive Director David Linzey, was in the locker room at the fitness center in unincorporated Walnut Creek on Feb. 20 when he was secretly recorded with a cellphone. The video was uploaded to Snapchat, school spokesman Mike McCey said.

McCey said the incident was reported to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 21 after it was discovered that several students had distributed still photos from the video to others on the campus of the Concord school.

20 students suspended in Long Island sexting scandal

Fifteen-year-olds AJ Fenton and Kiran Phelan say they were suspended from school for opening a sex video on their smartphones, sent to them on a group text message.

“When I got the video, I didn’t know what it was,” said AJ.

In all, about 20 Long Island students were suspended for up to five days for forwarding the video or simply receiving it. Two of the students were arrested and charged with felonies for distributing child pornography.

Parents Andrew Fenton and Thomas Phelan are fighting to overturn the suspensions of their sons.

“Nobody knows what’s coming to their phones. If he’s 18, colleges are going to say ‘Were you ever suspended from school?

Xavier College’s past revealed following online bullying scandal

Xavier College’s past revealed following online bullying scandal

It sounds like the worst school on the worst corner of the worst suburb, and yet you pay about $25,000 a year to go there. Xavier College is a prestigious Catholic boys school in Kew in Melbourne with an esteemed alumni — Labor Opposition Leader Bill Shorten, AFL Brownlow medallist Jobe Watson, world champion marathon runner Robert de Castella and Formula One world championship winner Alan Jones. Even Barry Humphries’ character Sir Les Patterson claims he was a student. The school says it aims to produce “reflective, compassionate and articulate men” who will provide “outstanding service and leadership in our world”. But it is often plagued with scandal, and online bullying is the latest transgression to rock the senior boys campus. Its students this week came under fire for taunting public school students on Facebook ahead of the VCE English exam, calling them “povos”. One said he felt glad he went to a private school instead of a “poverty-stricken s–thole in Pakenham”. But Pakenham year 10 student Liam Bottriel was quick to put the elitist bullies of Xavier College in their place. “It says more about how they’ve been brought up, than anything. It’s really sad,” he said. Source: http://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/real-life/xavier-colleges-past-revealed-following-online-bullying-scandal/story-fnq2o7dd-1227588458896

Samantha Cameron ‘sent messages to Rebekah Brooks through intermediaries in Chipping Norton shop’ during phone hacking scandal

Source: National Cyber Security – Produced By Gregory Evans

Samantha Cameron sent messages via intermediaries at a shop in Chipping Norton to Rebekah Brooks after David Cameronreportedly “threw her to the wolves” during the phone hacking scandal, an excerpt from the former Tory donor Lord Ashcroft’s book has claimed. More claims about the Prime Minister’s private life from the former Conservative party treasurer’s unauthorised biography, co-written with journalist Isabel Oakeshott, were published in theDaily Mail on Tuesday. These excerpts described the gatherings of wealthy elite members of the Chipping Norton set, including the Camerons, Brooks, Jeremy Clarkson and reports of their weekends in the Cotswolds together. Excerpts published on Monday detailed extraordinary allegations about Mr Cameron’s time at Oxford University, including the lurid claim that the Prime Minister had inserted his genitals into the mouth of a dead pig during a bizarre initiation ceremony for the Piers Gaveston society. However, the book claims Mr Cameron turned his back on Brooks and Charlie when they were arrested on phone hacking charges. Brooks, the former editor of The Sun and the News of the World, was cleared of all charges relating to the hacking the scandal and returned to her former job as chief executive of News International in September. Her husband was also cleared […]

No end in sight: More drama to come in the phone-hacking scandal

Source: National Cyber Security – Produced By Gregory Evans

Like the Wars of the Roses, Frank Sinatra’s much-postponed retirement and the proceedings of the Chilcot inquiry, the newspaper phone-hacking scandal seems to go on for ever. With the conclusion of the Leveson investigation into the British press, and the jailing of some journalists, many in the industry may have hoped that, using a contemporary phrase, a “line might be drawn” under this unrelenting media nightmare. It seems not. Rebekah Brooks appears set to return to the chief executive role at News UK, formerly News International – one she vacated when she had to face serious legal charges. She was judged innocent and cleared; nonetheless, many were shocked at what they learnt about journalistic methods at the News of the World and The Sun, and the behaviour of senior people at the titles, legal or not. Whatever lessons have been learnt and qualities Ms Brooks brings to the Murdoch organisation, even the most skilled public-relations exercise could not convince anyone that this was a “fresh start”. Rupert Murdoch has once again signalled a sort of rugged defiance towards the rest of the world, and displayed a remarkable sense of loyalty, even chivalry, to one of those closest to him. It […]

Rebekah Brooks Returning To News Corp After Phone-Hacking Scandal

Source: National Cyber Security – Produced By Gregory Evans

LONDON, Aug 28 (Reuters) – Rebekah Brooks will return to her old job heading Rupert Murdoch’s British newspaper division, according to the Financial Times and New York Times, just over a year after being cleared of criminal charges in a phone-hacking scandal. Her return to News Corp could be as soon as early September, the Financial Times said on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter. Reuters reported in March that Brooks, the former editor of the News of the World tabloid and seen as Murdoch’s protege, was in talks about returning to News Corp. “As we have said, we have been having discussions with Rebekah Brooks and when we have any announcements to make we will let you know,” a News Corp spokesman said on Friday. News UK, which covers Murdoch’s British newspaper titles, declined further comment. If confirmed, the return to one of the biggest jobs in the British media would mark a stunning turnaround for Brooks who became one of the most talked about figures in British public life when the phone-hacking scandal broke. A public inquiry which ran through 2011 and 2012 heard of the close ties between senior executives at Murdoch’s newspapers, the police and leading […]
