Man appears in court on suspicion of abusing month-old child

The father of a one-month-old child was charged with abuse Friday after doctors found the baby had multiple leg fractures.

Alex Tyler Halseth, 21, appeared before Yellowstone County Justice of the Peace David Carter on two counts of felony assault on a minor.

Carter ordered Halseth held in place of a $50,000 bond.

Halseth’s public defender said Halseth is a veteran and 20-year resident of Billings.

On Thursday, the one-month-old was taken to St. Vincent Healthcare by a babysitter who noticed bruises on the boy’s face and a cut in his mouth, according to court documents. Doctors later found the baby had at least four leg fractures, including fractures to the baby’s femur bones, according to court documents.

Teen mom accused of sexually abusing her baby and creating child porn

A young mother is accused of sexually abusing her infant son and producing child sexually abusive material.

Pacyga’s parental rights have been suspended as a result and she has been lodged in the Muskegon County Jail on two felony charges.

Obama Administration Calls On Schools To Stop Abusing Kids

Although 28 states and the District of Columbia explicitly prohibit the act of physical discipline in school, corporal punishment is hardly a relic of the past. In the 2013-2014 school year, over 110,000 students were struck, paddled or flogged in the classroom, according to the most recent available data from the federal government. Now, the Obama administration is taking steps to reduce this number further.

On Tuesday, U.S. Secretary of Education John King Jr. sent a letter to governors and state school officers imploring them to eliminate the practice from their schools. Currently, 15 states have laws expressly allowing corporal punishment, and seven more states do not have rules prohibiting the practice.

Israeli Police Abusing Detained Children in Palestine

Child-Abuse-Prevention-Month

(Jerusalem) – Israeli security forces are abusing Palestinian children detained in the West Bank. The number of Palestinian children arrested by Israeli forces has more than doubled since October 2015.

Interviews with children who have been detained, video footage, and reports from lawyers reveal that Israeli security forces are using unnecessary force in arresting and detaining children, in some cases beating them, and holding them in unsafe and abusive conditions.

“Palestinian children are treated in ways that would terrify and traumatize an adult,” said Sari Bashi, Israel and Palestine country director. “Screams, threats, and beatings are no way for the police to treat a child or to get accurate information from them.
