Abuse victim forced to give her baby up for adoption was let down by police, says watchdog

A domestic abuse victim whose baby was subsequently put up for adoption was failed by South Wales Police, the police watchdog has concluded.

The teenage mum was initially not treated as a victim of abuse despite eyewitness evidence of an assault, of which he has now been convicted, and evidence of abusive messages.

Her local authority, the Vale of Glamorgan, is also now being investigated over its handling of her case, which saw it enrol her on joint counselling sessions with her abusive partner.

The father of the 18-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, believes the public bodies’ handling of the allegations led to her child, now two, being taken away from her against her will.

Colombia’s gay adoption a ‘historic step’ or lacking ‘respect for children’?

A court ruling that secured Colombia’s gay couples the right to adopt children is a “historic step towards equality,” according to gay rights activists. Christian groups said it lacks “respect for children.”

For Diverse Colombia, the country’s largest gay rights group, the Court’s decision is a crucial legal advancement towards the recognition of the legal equality of the gay community in the country.

However, the State must guarantee that officials of different entities in the country will truly comply with the new law in practice — an issue that has posed problems in the past.

“Unfortunately we have found that the ruling isn’t sufficient, that the rest of the State, in this case the executive, has to enforce compliance of the law to guarantee equality in the proceedings, valuations, and requirements for adoption,” stated Diverse Colombia spokeswoman, Marcela Sanchez, in an interview with Caracol Radio.

End Identity Theft Caused by Adoption

Source: National Cyber Security – Produced By Gregory Evans

Seven to ten million American adoptees’ original birth certificates are falsified and then sealed. It happened to me. My names, and family, were stolen by adoption fifteen months after my legitimate birth in 1956. I have known the truth since I was eighteen in 1974, but do not have the right to possess my own birth certificate and must present the fake one as proof of my identity. Making someone else’s child “your own” by adoption causes the State’s Director of Vital Statistics to issue a replacement birth certificate presenting false facts as truth and then seals the actual document – even in open adoption. Adopting parents’ names are swapped in, implying that they actually conceived and birthed the re-named child. The attending physician’s signature that verifies the birth is omitted. The birthdate and place can be changed. Government-sanctioned fiction gives many adoptive parents permission to deny or lie. They are not legally obligated to be truthful. This horrendous breach of trust bases a “parent”-child relationship neither on respect nor love, but rather on deceptive power and control. White people cannot lie about adopting a racial child, but the falsified document clearly states that the court-appointed guardians gave birth to […]

Same Sex Couples In Victoria Closer To Adoption Rights, Catch Up To NSW, WA, ACT

It’s been far too long of a time coming, but Victoria is currently moving a step closer to other Australian states’ same sex adoption rights, with the state government announcing a review of family laws today.

According to The Age, a review will be conducted over the current adoption laws in Victoria, with a proposed change to same-sex couples’ rights potentially being made equal with male-female couples by the middle of the year. The proposed change would mean same-sex couples could adopt children together; at present, a partner in a same-sex relationship cannot officially become a ‘parent’ of their partner’s child, only a legal guardian.
