A Florida mother wants to know why her 10-year-old son with autism was dragged away from his elementary school in handcuffs and forced to spend a night behind bars. Luanne Haygood told RT America’s Marina Portnaya the police were “certainly not trained.”

A mother in Florida watched as her 10-year-old son was dragged away from his elementary school in handcuffs and forced to spend the night in jail for an incident that took place last year.

Luanne Haygood captured footage of two school resource officers at Okeechobee Achievement Academy who grabbed her son by the wrists.

“I don’t want to be touched,” John Benjamin Haygood, who was slumped over in his chair, pleaded with the officers.

Undercover cop answers Craigslist ad for a hacker

A US man from the state of Pennsylvania – who, evidently, doesn’t quite understand that police use computers and has never heard of Tor – is looking at 2 to 4 years in jail for trying to recruit a cybercriminal to erase his court records and wipe out $16,000 he owed in fines. He wanted those fines to go away. So Zachary J. Landis posted a listing on Craigslist …using his personal email and phone number, according to ABC27 news. What’s that noise? Do you hear it? I think it’s the sound of police laughing hysterically. Yes, Landis wound up trying to hire an undercover cop. According to a release from Lancaster County District Attorney (DA) Craig Stedman’s office, Derry Township police discovered the Craigslist ad. They shuffled it over to the DA’s office. Then, one of the DA’s detectives got in touch with Landis, posing as a cyber-genius who was up for the work. “Caveat emptor,” Landis must have been muttering to himself. Before shelling out for the job, Landis told the detective to erase a bit of that $16,000 – just to prove he could. The negotiations included Landis sending the supposed hacker three docket sheets – a pretty […]

Parents want answers about gym coach arrested on child porn charges

Renee sat her wide-eyed, trusting 6-year-old daughter down Saturday, choking back tears.

“Do you know Coach Carl?” Renee asked. “Do you like him?”

“Yes,” the 6-year-old gymnast responded.

“He did bad things with guns, and he did bad things with kids,” Renee said. “You can’t go back there any more.”

The child cried.

Carl Lechner, or Coach Carl as the children at CATS Gymnastics in Jupiter knew him, was arrested Friday after detectives uncovered at least seven child pornography files on his home computer in Lauderdale Lakes. Lechner, 66, also spent three years in state prison in North Carolina on drug charges almost 30 years ago, according to a police report.

Longview looks for answers after sixth shooting death

Police identified the Longview man fatally shot Tuesday in the sixth fatal shooting this year in Longview.

Da’Coreyan Blankenship, 21, was the latest in a string of homicides since January.

“Every time you hear this or see this, you cringe,” Longview Mayor Jay Dean said. “We have really got to look at exactly what we are doing to curb this violence.”

The year started with violence when Philander Carlton Peters, 48, was killed Jan. 13 at a house in the 1600 block of Hawthorne Street. There is no suspect, and the case is still under investigation.

Three days later Omar Hernandez, 22, was shot dead at a house in the 500 block of Jones Street.
