Woman attempted to drown baby after breakup

A Tucson woman was arrested Friday night in connection with the attempted drowning of her 9-month-old baby, according to the Tucson Police Department.

Leina Beckner, 28, was arrested on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder and child abuse, police said.

Shortly before 5 p.m. Friday, the Tucson Fire Department responded to reports of a possible child drowning near Ajo Way and Benson Highway.

Officials began administering first aid until paramedics arrived and took the baby to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Detectives arrived at the scene and learned the father of the baby had ended his relationship with Beckner that day and that she had said she was going to kill the baby and herself, police said.

Sex offender accused of attempted kidnapping

A convicted sex offender is accused of attempting to kidnap a woman in his room at a Bend halfway house while also possessing child pornography and unlawfully contacting minors online. Probation officers received a tip in July 2015 that Jeffrey Christian Yaeger, 37, of Bend, had violated his probation by using two cellphones to access child pornography and contact underage girls. The officers seized the cellphones during a search of his room, and after further investigation discovered he allegedly tried to kidnap a woman he met on an online dating website two weeks earlier. Boys & Girls Club teen program director arrested on attempted sodomy charge

The teen program director at the Boys & Girls Club in Grants Pass was arrested Monday on allegations of attempted sexual contact with a 16-year-old boy.

James “Jamie” Curry, 37, was taken into custody at Grants Pass High School, where police said he attempted to meet the teen. He was booked on several initial charges, including luring and attempted sodomy, but since has been released. The charges could be altered by the Josephine County District Attorney’s Office.

In a statement, Boys & Girls Club Executive Director Diann Gilbertson said staff were notified by police of the arrest and that Curry has since been fired.

1996 attempted murder suspect now charged with child abuse

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) -A man who was once a murder suspect back in 1996 is now suspected of severely beating his young son.

Clarence Schreane, 39, of Chattanooga was charged with one count of aggravated child abuse.

Deputies from the Hamilton County fugitives division transported Schreane back to Hamilton County after he was picked up by authorities in Washington County Tennessee.

Back on may 12, police were called to T.C. Thompson Children’s Hospital after the staff suspected a 10-year old boy had been physically abused.

According to the arrest affidavit, the child had visible signs of deep dark bruises covering his buttocks and upper thighs.

A watchful Regina gas station clerk has foiled what police believe to be an attempted credit card scam — one that could have implications that reach beyond this province.

Johnson City police arrested an Elizabethton woman Tuesday on charges that she used another person’s credit card to make purchases. Heather K. Richardson, 23, 220 Nave Hollow Loop, Elizabethton, was with fraudulent use of a credit or debit card and theft of property over $1,000. Police said Richardson’s arrest resulted from an investigation into fraudulent charges made to a Belk Department Store credit card. The investigation showed Richardson unlawfully used the victim’s credit card to make purchases in Tennessee and North Carolina. Richardson turned herself in Tuesday at the Washington County Detention Center, where she was held on $20,000 bond. She was arraigned Wednesday in Sessions Court. Tuesday’s arrest was not Richardson’s first in Johnson City: — In August 2013, she was charged with shoplifting. — In January 2014, Richardson was charged with aggravated assault. — In February 2014, she was one of two people arrested when police found drugs at a Johnson City hotel. Richardson and Terelle Sanders were each charged with possession of schedule II drugs for resale, possession of schedule VI drugs for resale and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said the arrests resulted from a “knock and talk” at a room at the Double Tree Hotel, 211 Mockingbird Lane. […]
