Twin brother arrested after teen stabbed to death in Grant County

A 17-year-old boy is dead and his twin brother is in custody after an early morning stabbing in Coulee City.
Deputies with the Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in the 300 block of West Washington Street around 2:30 a.m.
The stabbing victim was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead, Kyle Foreman, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, said.
The teen had a single stab wound to the chest.
After interviewing witnesses, the teen’s twin brother was arrested for investigation of manslaughter and assault-domestic violence, Foreman said.
Foreman says the twin brothers got into some sort of argument and that’s when one of them was stabbed.

Hacker Cracks Lumia Bootloader, Releases Tool To Grant Root Access For Custom ROMs

Microsoft and Nokia have done a great job of making Lumia smartphones difficult to break into at a low-level, but software hacker Heathcliff has just proven that it’s not impossible. He’s just released a great-looking tool called Phone Internals, and it can do everything from unlocking the bootloader to replacing the phone’s ROM. Heathcliff welcomes donations by those who’ve found the tool useful. Based on the introduction video, it seems that a lot of effort went into this, and unlike most tools of this nature, detailed descriptions are found everywhere to ensure that you know exactly what’s going to happen once you click a button. According to the “Getting Started” section of the tool, supported models include Lumia 520, 521, 525, 620, 625, 720, 820, 920, 925, 928, 1020, and 1320. If your model is not on the list, don’t fret: Heathcliff has said that he hopes to add more models in the future. Even if you do have an appropriate PHONE ROM or run custom software, this tool could be used to root the device and give you the ability to back up the entire thing. Options are given to back up specific partitions, or everything en masse. Later, […]

Hugh Grant: hero of the fight for press freedom?

Source: National Cyber Security – Produced By Gregory Evans

Hugh Grant has played some ridiculous parts and spoken some bad lines in his acting career. But surely none can top his performance of the past week. Grant has attempted to cast himself, the press-bashing Hacked Off lobby he fronts and Lord Justice Leveson as the people ‘who really care for freedom of expression in this country’, and claimed credit for a ‘victory for press freedom’ over police use of anti-terror laws to hack into journalists’ phone records. In the words of one of the tabloid hacks whose freedom Grant, Leveson and Co have spent years trying to curb: ‘You could not make it up.’ Protests over the scandal of police using the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA) secretly to hack into journalists’ phone records, in order to hunt down confidential sources and whistleblowers, has been escalating for months. The government has now announced that it will, after all, introduce ‘interim measures’ to put a stop to this practice before the General Election in May. Under the new rules police will have to follow procedures set out in the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE), go to court and obtain the permission of a judge before accessing journalists’ records. Matt DeHart, the alleged Anonymous hacker, deported to U.S. after Canada refused to grant him asylum

Matt DeHart, a former American soldier who sought asylum in Canada claiming torture by U.S. agents probing Anonymous hackers and WikiLeaks, was taken from his Ontario prison cell Sunday morning and delivered to U.S. agents at the border. Mr. DeHart, 30, was allowed to make a quick phone call en route to his parents, who are living in Toronto facing their own removal order, said his father, Paul. “He was peaceful and in good health,” Paul DeHart said in an interview but the family remains deeply worried. “We are concerned about Matt’s safety as he transits,” he said. “We said a prayer together on the phone and gave him into God’s hands for protection.” His claim for refugee protection in Canada, on the basis of his torture claim, was rejected last month by the Immigration and Refugee Board. “I cannot imagine any life in a country which has already tortured me,” he told the National Post last month. “Am I now to be given into the hands of my torturers?” His is a bizarre, high-profile case, featured in a large investigation by the Post in May. It has since been featured in international media, including recent pieces by Germany’s Der […]
