Singer reacts when Arrest Of Man Using His Image For Child Pornography

After five months of investigation, the Police Department in Cali, Colombia confirmed the arrest of Breiner Alirio Rivera Soto, a man who was pretending to be Colombian urban star Maluma on social media in order to obtain compromising photos of minors, sources say.

According to authorities, the 23-year-old man used his expertise on computer engineering to create a fake profile on Facebook under Maluma’s name, and allured young women into sending him intimate photos and videos of them. Police officials report he contacted girls as young as nine years old.

Reports disclosed Rivera Soto’s capture was made possible after one of the victims confessed she was being extorted by a man online.

Microsoft boosts fight vs child porn with cloud-based image recognition system

B9318003201Z.1_20150707222459_000_GU2B9OT2I.1-0Microsoft is taking the fight against child pornography one step further – with a new free cloud-based image recognition system.
With the new PhotoDNA Cloud Service, Microsoft promises to help find and remove online images that exploit children.
“Finding these known child sex abuse images in that huge universe is like finding a needle in a haystack… We needed an easier, more scalable way to identify and detect these worst of the worst images … and that’s how the concept for PhotoDNA in the cloud was born,” said Courtney Gregoire, a senior attorney at Microsoft’s Digital Crimes Unit.

NM bill would make each image of child porn its own separate cri

The sale and distribution of child pornography fuels an intricate business of extreme child abuse, exploitation and kidnapping. Now, New Mexico lawmakers are ready to decide whether someone should be charged with a separate crime each time they view an item of child porn.

At the moment, someone in New Mexico could download dozens of child pornography images and face only one charge, but that would change under the new bill.

House Bill 251 would make “…each separate image recorded, or each act performed publicly shall be prosecuted as an individual criminal offense.”

The law would affected people like James Lee Thomas, who is accused of sending child porn files to an agent in the Attorney General’s Office on at least five occasions this month.
