#cyberfraud | #cybercriminals | US ally is under ongoing ‘serious cyber attack’ — so severe it may be a ‘targeted attack by a state actor’ – Raw Story

Source: National Cyber Security – Produced By Gregory Evans

Austria’s foreign ministry is facing a “serious cyber attack”, it said late Saturday, warning another country could be responsible.

“Due to the gravity and nature of the attack, it cannot be excluded that it is a targeted attack by a state actor,” it said in a statement with the interior ministry shortly before 11.00 pm (2200 GMT), adding that the attack was ongoing.

“In the past, other European countries have been the target of similar attacks,” it continued.

Immediate measures had been taken and a “coordination committee” set up, it said, without elaborating.

The attack came as Austria’s Greens on Saturday gave the go-ahead to a coalition with the country’s conservatives at a party congress in Salzburg, removing the last obstacle to the unprecedented alliance.

Abstract/Description

The global food system will need to produce food more efficiently and sustainably to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and meet the 2°C climate commitments of the Paris Agreement. As climate change affects food systems, governments, food and agriculture companies, and public and private investors need to better identify and address the numerous climate- related risks they face. This can also be an inflection point to take advantage of new investment opportunities that the transformation to low-carbon and resilient food systems presents. Climate-smart investments to transform food systems, however, are not yet at scale. This will require addressing core market failures to unlocking private sector financing from food and agriculture companies, domestic and international financial institutions, and specialized investors. Whilst this paper highlights the clear need and role for the former, it explores in greater depth innovative strategies to address the core market failures of the latter: 1) lack of deep pipeline of bankable projects, today; 2) high investment risk and lack of primary data/information asymmetries; and 3) lack of intermediation to efficiently connect different pools of capital to investment. Against this backdrop, CCAFS and its partners highlight a diverse set of policy options, innovative financial solutions, and strategies for how government, food and agriculture companies, public and private donors and investors can support the transformation to low-carbon and resilient food systems.

Under Armour #admits 150 #million #MyFitnessPal #accounts were #hacked

Under Armour said on Thursday that data from some 150 million MyFitnessPal diet and fitness app accounts was compromised in February, in one of the biggest hacks in history, sending shares of the athletic apparel maker down 3 percent in after-hours trade.

The stolen data includes account user names, email addresses and scrambled passwords for the popular MyFitnessPal mobile app and website, Under Armour said in a statement. Social Security numbers, driver license numbers and payment card data were not compromised, it said.

It is the largest data breach this year and one of the top five to date, based on the number of records compromised, according to SecurityScorecard.

Larger hacks include 3 billion Yahoo accounts compromised in a 2013 incident and credentials for more than 412 million users of adult websites run by California-based FriendFinder Networks Inc in 2016, according to breach notification website LeakedSource.com.

Under Armour said it is working with data security firms and law enforcement, but did not provide details on how the hackers got into its network or pulled out the data without getting caught in the act.

While the breach did not include financial data, large troves of stolen email addresses can be valuable to cyber criminals.

Email addresses retrieved in a 2014 attack that compromised data on some 83 million JPMorgan Chase customers was later used in pump-and-dump schemes to boost stock prices, according to U.S. federal indictments in the case in 2015.

Under Armor said in an alert on its website that it will require MyFitnessPal users to change their passwords, and it urged users to do so immediately.

“We continue to monitor for suspicious activity and to coordinate with law enforcement authorities,” the company said, adding that it was bolstering systems that detect and prevent unauthorized access to user information.

Under Armour said it started notifying users of the breach on Thursday, four days after it first learned of the incident.

Under Armour bought MyFitnessPal in 2015 for $475 million. It is part of the company’s connected fitness division, whose revenue last year accounted for 1.8 percent of Under Armour’s $5 billion in total sales.

Man Who Preyed On School Girls Under Arrest

The Broward Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a man they say is a rapist who preyed on girls as they walked to school.

BSO spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion told CBS4’s Peter D’Oench that Kevin Smith was arrested after an exhaustive investigation and surveillance. She added detectives were gratified that this suspect is behind bars.

“This is every parent’s worst nightmare,” she said.

Concepcion said Smith was “very brazen and bold” and said he might have continued his attacks if he was not arrested.

He appeared in court Wednesday after being arrested on Tuesday for sexual assault and two counts of kidnapping. He was arrested in Lauderdale Lakes near the scene of the reported attacks.

Two teenagers are under arrest following a very disturbing video out of Modesto.

The video posted on Facebook has gone viral and shows kids bullying another kid along a sidewalk. A seemingly helpless student wearing a backpack was brutally tossed to the pavement and also endured a flurry of swear words in the video.

As close to a dozen other students stood by, with some recording on cell phones, they watched as two bullies had their way. One threatened the boy and demanded the boy drop to his knees.

In the less than two minute video, the crowd breaks up and the boy is allowed to walk away.

So why did all the other kids simply watch and laugh and not doing anything to help the kid being bullied?
